  • Matte Albums

I have to admit that I still have not gotten the matte album process down.  It takes me forever.  I spent 40 hours on my first matte album which was 42 pages.  It was horrific but I learned so much.  My second matte album below took me 3 hours to design (I created a fotofusion template so next time...lickety split) 2 hours to order through the lab and will take me about 2 hours of t.v. watching to put together.  My biggest time waster...ordering the photographs.  Unfortunately, the lab (will not mention on the blog) I use for ordering matte album prints has a terrible user interface but the prints are fabulous!!  I use several labs (every photographer has their favorite), but each one is for a different purpose based on the way they print my photographs and my needs at the time.  The time spent is definitely worth it when you see the finished product!

Take a peek at the template for the recent album (fyi the numbers in the lower left are the matt types):

  • Looks great!  There is a shot of them kissing with the flowers in the forefront..........love that shot.  I know what lab you are talking about!  Everyone probably does, lol.  Takes me all day to do ordering and I need to get on the ball to send samples to some other labs that use ROES.  It's on my to-do list!

  • Great job on the album. Matte albums are definitely harder but they look so much nicer than the others. I went on a tour of the Art Leather facility and it was amazing the amount of detail that goes into the album making process.
